It’s bad enough to have Q-Anon adherents like Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene occupying a seat on the racist “America First” caucus in the hallowed House of Representatives.

It seems inconceivable there are members of Congress still promoting the lie Donald Trump won the “rigged” 2020 election and defending the act of domestic terrorism that threatened to subvert its certification on January 6.

Yet the Capitol is not the only place anti-American republicans exist.

All over they are winning elections to local offices, even school and library boards, bringing with them anachronistic, anti-American ideas that threaten to destroy the educated…

COVID-19 vaccinations are not required anywhere in the United States.

Yet, that’s not stopping several republican state lawmakers from seeking to apply existing civil rights legislation to prevent “mandatory” vaccine implementation.

Montana has already passed such a bill.

Claiming forced vaccination is tantamount to “discrimination,” Montana’s businesses, government agencies, and places of “public accommodation”-grocery stores, hotels, and restaurants-from law prohibits withholding service or goods from anyone based on vaccination status or use of an “immunity passport.”

Just as legislation bars potential employers from refusing employment based on applicants’ race, gender, ethnicity, or religious affiliation, the Montana law, and those-like wishing…

What do former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and recently ousted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have in common?

They are examples of corrupt former leaders being held legally accountable for the crimes they committed while in office.

When President Joe Biden nominated Merrick Garland for Attorney General, aside from it being an affront to the republicans-particularly former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell-for blocking Garland’s appointment to the Supreme Court in 2016, many predicted it was a signal Biden was serious about cleaning up the Trump-tainted Dept. of Justice (DOJ).

While that assumption is mostly accurate, Merrick Garland seems to be…

Fox so-called “news” is branching out.

Not content promulgating “climate change hoax” lies on its regular platform, it has decided to add a 24-hour weather channel to its oligarchic propaganda machine.

According to a press release, Fox promises “cutting-edge display technology” replete with “ forecasting experts surrounding every major weather event “.

On the surface, this may appear laudable.

But let’s not dismiss all the ways Fox has built a brand undermining science and facts.

It is this that has climate experts worried.

George Mason University’s Center for Climate Change Communication director, Edward Maibach, warned:

“Fox News has access to…

Two years ago, news broke about evidence confirming Russian buyers used Facebook advertising as propaganda leading up to the 2016 presidential election.

In response, Facebook presented Congress 3,000 Russian-purchased ads through 470 phony pages and accounts intended to exploit America’s racial divisions.

Facebook said at least $100,000 was spent for this purpose, a mere fraction of its political advertising during the 2016 campaign.

This motivated the House Intelligence Committee to release a sample of Facebook ads the Russian government-affiliated Internet Research Agency, a St. …

For all the ways Joe Biden is surprising many by taking more uncharacteristically progressive stances on domestic issues, there is one area in particular where he so far bears little significant resemblance from “ the former guy “.

Immigration.

While immigration has been an albatross around every president’s neck and there is no panacea for it, there are progressive, humane immigration policies administrations can pursue.

To be fair, President Biden ordered DHS to review Trump’s Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), commonly known as the “Remain in Mexico” policy.

On his first day in office, he sent Congress a bill creating for…

Right-wing extremist groups are on the rise.

Although one might be tempted to assume their activity is confined mostly to social outcasts languishing in their basements on 4Chan message boards, recently leaked membership data from the neo-Confederate “Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV)” reveals military officers, elected officials, public employees, and a national security expert with “Department of Defense secret security clearance” are among its members.

Alongside them are those who participated in the white supremacist “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Va. …

The United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) dealt several blows to the Voting Rights Act last week.

In a majority conservative 6–3 upheld two ruling, SCOTUS Arizona restrictions.

The first prohibits individuals other than close family members or caregivers from collecting mail-in ballots.

The second requires elections officials to reject votes from people who report to incorrect precincts even if they are registered voters in their states.

One of the few dissenting voices, Justice Elena Kagan, stated:

“What is tragic here is that the Court has yet again rewritten-in order to weaken-a statute that stands as a monument to America’s greatness…

This time of year, we expect Southern cities like Dallas, Miami, and New Orleans to be among the hottest in the country.

We do not typically think of the Pacific Northwest in the same way.

Yet temperatures this week in Portland, Ore. spiked to 116 degrees-hotter than it has ever been in the aforementioned Southern locations.

Only Phoenix and Las Vegas have ever experienced higher temperatures.

While not as searing in other parts, the entire country is locked in an unprecedented records-shattering heatwave.

It’s not just western WA that will be impacted by heat this weekend & early next week…
