Poem in Honor in Rep. Santos’ Expulsion

--

I wrote this poem, “Ass in the House,” back in January. Considering today’s expulsion of NY Rep. George Santos, this poem couldn’t be more timely.

Ass in the House

GOP voters chose me.

Everyone knows with high probability

Only Democrats care about credibility.

Republicans can get away with anything.

God bless gerrymandering!

Elections aren’t won by everyone voting.

So I made up a few details

Along the way. I’ve been known to tell tales

Now and again. But I sailed

Through election day because there was an “R”

On the ballot with my name. I didn’t set the bar.

Step down? Don’t be silly. I’m a star.
